Plastic pollution from rivers accounts for more than a quarter of the 8 million tons of plastic deposited into the World Ocean each year. Cataracta is a data artwork by Dan McCarey that continually visualizes the estimated flow of microplastics (particles <5 mm) into the World Ocean from ten rivers over a 24-hour period.
